Each startup needs a name.
Oh Berry came out of an hour long brainstorming session that involved some time outside, some time inside, and many checks to see what versions of the domain were open for purchase at standard rates.
When we first hatched the idea for the site the discussion centered around a name that described the product. This seems to be a common approach for many startups and products but as we sat outside in our chairs it was realized it didn’t have to describe the product at all but rather one of the moments.
It was while outside that we realized a very specific moment had taken place in the last week. @ahomco and myself (@rayrayangel) had went on a roadtrip to see @jfintel where we aquired through legal and proper channels a large cardboard strawberry. This was a moment that we wanted to share with our close friends. It was perfect. It also lead to the suggestion that the word Strawberry be used in the name of the site.
This in turn lead to the word berry and later @ahomco suggested Oh because it was used often in our discussions and it could also be Overheard which when with friends can happen a lot.
A few minutes later the domain was purchased and work began on the site.
